If you want to have a little romance, you can never go wrong with food.
I usually wakes up a bit earlier than my girlfriend so I often make her breakfast in bed. It is the taught that counts so you don’t have to be to excessive. A normal breakfast is always appreciated.
But sometimes I do something extra. Then I make a special of mine. I got to the supermarket and buy fresh ciabattas, fresh basil, tomatoes, ham and mozzarella cheese.
I split the bread and butter it. Then I use garlic spice and herb salt on the buttered bread. Thin slices of tomate, thick slices of mozzarella and a lot of ham.
Then you heat the sandwiches in a sandwich grill until the mozzarella melts.
Serve with freshly squeezed juice and maybe a boiled egg and enjoy a romantic breakfast in bed.

On Friday its of to the cottage.
I’ve talked about the cottage before, its the cozy little place with no heat or running water. Some of you might think why would somebody want to go to that kind of place?
Its just because it doesnt have any luxuries. You have to keep the fire burning to keep warm etc. But its secluded and very relaxing.
We bring some books and papers, maybe a deck of cards and just relax. We will bring food and barbecue every day. Hopefully we will get some sun so we can enjoy the warmth. Its good for the soul to let go of technology and society. The cellphones doesnt work but if you walk 3-400 yards you will get signal so you can make a call if you want.
Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

If you want music for a more special occasion, I have just the thing for you.
Lets say you get an evening alone for the first time in ages. The kids are away and you and your wife have the whole place for your self.
First you have to make sure that the place is tidied up, the you ligth all the candles you can get your hands on. If you can light 50+ candles do it.
The you set the mood with these songs:
Savage Garden – I Knew I Loved You
Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You
Patrick Swayze Featuring Wendy Fraser – She’s Like The Wind
Extreme – More Than Words
Lionel Richie – Say You, Say Me
Elton John – Your Song
A bit softer, a bit more cute, a bit more romantic.

If I want to make a special dinner for my girlfriend, candle lights, three course meal, the whole package. One very important thing is the music.
The music sets the mood for the whole dinner. You also have to adjust the music to what’s on the menu.
If it is a laid back, down to earth dinner after a long day at work, I would have these songs.
Roachford – Lay Your Love On Me
Paul Young – Don’t Dream It’s Over
The Cure – Friday I’m In Love
Righteous Brothers – Unchained Melody
Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight
Tony Christie – The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
Phil Collins – You’ll Be In My Heart
Its a bit more uptempo song that make you glad.

Okey, I agree. Who doesn’t like a romantic trip to the sun? But sometimes the cold cam be just as romantic.
My girlfriends parents has a cottage in the middle of nowhere. No hot water or shower and the only heat source is the fireplace. We love to go here in the middle of the winter. We bring food, a lot of firewood and water and stay over the weekend. Its just so cozy to build a fire and cuddle up under a blanket and wait for the heat to rise. It usually take a couple of hours to get the temperature up but after that its really nice.
We bring books and magazines and just relax as much as we can.
I love it.

Many men, me included, has a tendency to think that everything that is romantic costs a lot of money. Nothing could be further from the truth. A romantic trip doesnt have to be a ultra expensive trip to a country far a way. I could be a surprise picnic on a lunchbreak. Maybe you can borrow a friends cottage and take a nice weekend trip just for two?
The thing is that women appreciate the surprise and just that you made an effort much more that the price (usually
). If you make the effort and just give it some thought, she will love you for it, no matter what it is that you do.
So get of you back and take your sweet heart on a picnic, and don’t forget the flowers.

Last summer me and my girlfriend went on an weekende trip to a nearby town. It wasnt a log trip, just 150 km, we just wanted to get away and have some time together. The plan was to spend a day shopping and then see a show and finish the evening with a nice romantic dinner.
We had to drive at night so the first night we checked in to the hotel and took an quick dinner. But the dinner was a surprise. It was an Mongolian restaurant, I’ve never been to one before but it was a nice experience. After that we went back to the hotel and watched some tv and fell a sleep in about 10 minutes.
The next day started perfectly. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny. We walked around town shipping some clothes and some gifts for the kids. We had some ice cream and just felt good about being away.
We were going to see a comedy show at an outdoor theatre. But maybe an hour before the show started it started raining. It rained a lot, a whole lot. Then came the thunderstorm. We knew roughly were the show was and we could see it from our hotelroom. The we saw a massive thunderbolk strike in just that direction, then another. 2 minutes later the fire department rushed at that direction.
When we came to the park were the show was it was still raining. We got the news that the lightning had struck a tree in the park but it was alright now. Luckily I had a big plastic bag in my trunk we could have a a seat cushion on the wet seat. Maybe 10 min r so before the show started the rain stopped.
The show was really funny and it turned out to be a great romantic weekend trip, even if we got a little wet from the rain.

About a year ago me and my girlfriend decided that we really needed to get away and spend some quality time together.
We wanted sun and warmth and a combination of activities and tranquillity.
After some searching on the net we decided to go to Egypt.
We chose a nice all inclusive hotel just by the red sea in Hurghada in the south of Egypt. The hotel complex was very big. We got an apartment with a perfect view over the sea with a patio. The trip was perfect. We sunbathed a lot and went snorkelling. I bought an underwater camera and got some nice pictures of a moray that i almost swam into. We went to see the beduins in the desert. But the best evening of the trip was a special night. We got the chance to celebrate Valentines in Egypt.
We went to an exclusive restaurant in the area and enjoyed a fantastic three course dinner. After that we took a long walk on the beach and just enjoyed the warmth.
Now a year later I can still feel the sun warming me. i really want to go back there with my wonderful girlfriend.
